The Land Surveyor’s Role

When engaging in cadastral renovation work, land surveyors are commissioned by the government and renovate one cadastre at a time. At Denicourt Arpenteurs-Géomètres Inc., we have a vast experience in the matter.

A Complete Land Reform

The complete cadastral renovation was initiated by the government and is executed under the provisions of Article 10 of the Act to promote the reform of the cadastre in Quebec. This decision was made to generate a full and realistic portrait of Quebec’s land property lay out. To do this, it is essential to use accurate and standardized data, allowing the attribution of a distinct registration number to each property.

Cadastral renovation work aims to correct the abnormalities of existing plans, to represent non-registered properties and to produce a cadastral plan in digital form. To go about renovating cadastres in a given sector, land surveyors have a series of steps to complete over the course of two years. The government of Quebec believes this massive operation will be completed by 2021.
